I will be giving short answers to the 40 questions from Revelation 12. The questions are meant to provoke you into studying the Bible and knowing the Truth (John 8:32). The truth is never afraid of being questioned, examined or verified. Part 1 is here: Mystery of The End of Days.
The verses of Revelation 12 are an allegorical mystery, but God is opening our eyes in these End Times to know and understand these mysteries. You will notice that Jesus revealed a mystery to John the Beloved in Revelation 1 verses 12, 13 and 16.
Seven golden candlesticks.
Seven stars in His right hand.
Sharp two-edged sword.
Jesus immediately unfolded this mystery to John and he understood. In the same way, you need to allow Christ to unfold these mysteries to us otherwise you will miss its understanding.
Seven golden candlesticks = seven churches.
Seven stars in His right hand = seven angels or messengers.
Sharp two-edged sword = the Word of God.
As you can see, the Woman of Revelation 12 does follow the same allegory, just like the Body of Christ being the Temple of God (John 2:19). Many are still thinking of their place of worship as the temple or church of God, even renowned preachers do teach or preach with this impression and some arrogantly, but with the aim of raising money for their empire’s building. Sad!
The Holy Bible?
Unfortunately, what I have discovered common within the Body of Christ is exactly what Peter the apostle warned against, “As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.” [2Peter 3:16].
There is no place for personal opinions or unnecessary arguments against the Word. If you will not interpret the Scripture with either personal opinions or traditional beliefs, then you must humble yourself to understand the explanation of the mysteries of God.
Now, let us check the Scriptures to understand and answer those 40 questions from Revelation 12:
Woman Of Revelation 12
- Who is this woman of Revelation 12?
Answer: The Woman is the Church (people – not edifice) universal who has been called out of the world. Remember, the Church is the Bride of Christ. She is akin to Mary the earthly mother of Jesus, but she is not Mary. Two thousand years ago, Jesus told us that these would soon take place. See Ephesians 5:32, Revelation 21:2
- Is it Mary the earthly mother of Jesus?
Answer: No, it isn’t Mary the earthly mother of Jesus. She was long dead and her children were long dead, too. See Galatians 4:26
- How can this be Mary considering the statement of Jesus in Revelation 1:1?
Answer: Revelation 1:1 is a further confirmation that the Woman was not Mary.
- Who is the Man Child mentioned in verse 5?
Answer: The Man Child in verse 5 is like the Church from within the Church. It is a group of people not one person, but those people will look (in character and manifestation) like Jesus Christ who walked the earth. Jesus Christ would have been formed in them through their willing surrender on the altar of sacrifice like Jesus Himself. They would be like Lazarus whom Jesus raised from the grave. See Daniel 7:18, John 11, Joel 2.
- Was the Book of Revelation not written AFTER Jesus Christ had ascended into heaven?
Answer: Yes, it was written after Jesus had ascended to sit at the right Hand of the Father, hence the revelation to John the apostle. It was written somewhere between 60-90AD.
- Why would Jesus Christ have to get being reborn as an event that “must shortly come to pass” according to Revelation 1:1?
Answer: This is another pointer that the Woman was not Mary and that the Man Child was not Jesus Christ Himself. See Galatians 4:19 & 2Corinthians 6:16.
- Why would “Mary” be clothed with the Sun?
Answer: Jesus is the Sun of Righteousness, so the woman is clothed with the righteousness of Jesus Christ. See Malachi 4:2 & Romans 3:22.
- Why would the Moon be under her feet?
Answer: The moon is under her feet because it is linked with the Sun. The three are different representations of the Presence/Glory of Christ in Man. See Exodus 34:29 & 1 Corinthians 15:41.
- What is this Sun? Just some object or sign in the sky?
Answer: This Sun is a representation of the Person of Christ, one day, the physical sun will cease to exist, and then the REAL Sun will shine forever. See Exodus 34:29 & 1 Corinthians 15:41.
- What is this Moon? Another object in the sky?
Answer: This moon is another representation of the Church. As you may know, the moon has no light in itself, but it reflects the Sun; The Church reflects the Person of Christ for the world to know of His existence. You cannot shine without the grace of God through Christ. See 1 Corinthians 15:41.
- Are these two major objects not representing something more spiritual?
Answer: They represent something more spiritual, just like the physical body, which Jesus declares to be the expected place of true worship. See John 2:19.
- Why is this mentioned as a GREAT wonder in verse 1?
Answer: It is a great wonder because we need SPIRITUAL EYES to discern and understand it. See Romans 16:25-26.
- Why was this woman in labour?
Answer: She is in labour because the saints of God who are witnessing and hearing all sorts of organized Babylonian teachings and politics in the Church are seriously fed up and KNOW deep within them that something is wrong. See Romans 8:19.
- Why was this woman in pain to give birth?
Answer: She is in pain because those saints who are being exposed to the Truth are finding spiritual life difficult to bear in their so-called churches and are seriously dissatisfied. See Romans 8:19, 2 Corinthians 6:17 & Galatians 4:23.
- Who is this great, fiery red dragon?
Answer: The great, fiery dragon is the Devil (see Revelation 12:9).
- What are the seven heads of this dragon?
Answer: The seven heads are the world governments whom the Devil shall empower. See Daniel 7 & Psalm 2.
- What are the ten horns of this dragon?
Answer: The ten horns are a representation of the different nations that control the world, they came out of the Roman Government of old. It was out of this condition that the Roman power came. He had ten horns. The ten horns represent the l0 kingdoms over which she ruled: Sir Isaac Newton listed them in his book published in 1733 with the names by which they were previously known (see verse seven). Today we would identify them as follows: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Holland, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Portugal, and Great Britain. See Daniel 7 & Psalm 2.
- What are the seven crowns or diadems upon his head?
Answer: These are the different leaders that will actually be most influential of those ten world governments. See Daniel 7 & Psalm 2.
- What is this tail of the dragon with which he fought against saints?
Answer: This tail is probably what you and I should watch out for! This tail is a deadly weapon in the arsenal of the Devil against the saints – it is the fallen ministers (preachers/teachers/pastors/prophets/evangelists) who will be influential in the Church, forming the Devil’s apostolic ministry. See Isaiah 9:15 & 2 Corinthians 11:13.
- A third of the stars of heaven fell to the earth, what could this mean spiritually?
Answer: The influence of the Devil’s apostles & prophets will cause many saints in the Church (a third) of the saints to fall from their position of grace in Christ. See 1 John 4:1, Revelation 13:7 & Daniel 12:3.
- How can stars be thrown to the earth – are stars not literally as large as (or even larger) than the earth?
Answer: The stars are the saints who have ministry from the Lord to the Church. They have been used to convert or establish many in the righteousness of God. See Daniel 8:10, Matthew 24:22 & Daniel 12:3.
- How was the dragon given access to the woman – ready to kill?
Answer: It is the same way the Devil had access to Eve in the Garden at the beginning.
- Why does the dragon want to kill the Man Child?
Answer: The Man Child is the One who will possess the Kingdom for God and His Christ, a huge threat to the Kingdom of darkness. See Daniel 7:18 & Joel 2.
- Who is the Man Child mentioned again – he is to rule the nations with a rod of iron in verse 5?
Answer: The Man Child is a group of people who will walk the earth like Jesus Christ did during His earthly ministry – He was a terror to the Devil. These company of believers shall rule the nations with a rod of iron. See Revelation 2:26-27, Romans 8:17 & Joel 2.
- Why is this child called a Man Child and not just a son?
Answer: These are a people filled and led by the Spirit of Christ, but they have to be totally dependent on the Spirit of God. See John 21:18 & Romans 8:14,19.
- Why was this Man Child caught up to God and His Throne?
Answer: This is what some preachers have been preaching as the “rapture”, yet it is not that they would just physically disappear, it is that they would be so transformed in their character that the Devil will not have access to influence their minds or souls anymore. They are sealed with God’s supernatural Presence. See Ezekiel 9:4 & Matthew 25:10.
- If the Man Child gets caught up into heaven, how will he rule the nations with a rod of iron
Answer: A clearer view that these people will not disappear into thin air because they have a ministry to fulfil. The Man Child is soulically filled with the supernatural Presence of Christ, but will be here on Earth as “untouchables”. Their souls are “sold-out” to God. See Romans 12:2, Ezekiel 9:4 & Matthew 25:10.
- The woman had to flee into the wilderness – Why? What does this mean?
Answer: This is the coming tribulation of the Church (or saints) – are you prepared? See Matthew 24:21-29.
- Why was she in the wilderness for 1,260 days?
Answer: These are the three and a half years of the tribulation. The wilderness is the place of lack, need and relative dependence on what matters most – existence. These group of saints will abandon their quest of worldly pleasures and truly seek God. See 1 Kings 19:4 & Matthew 4:1-11.
- Where is the dragon during this period of those 1,260 days?
Answer: The dragon will be using the influence and power (the crowns) of the ten horns to exert all kinds of regulations and legislations to control the Woman (Church). See Daniel 7:21 & Revelation 13:7.
- In which heaven was the devil and his angels cast down by Michael and his angels?
Answer: This is not the heaven where God dwells, because the Devil and his angels have already been cast out of that place and were sent to imprisonment (Jude 1:6), this heaven is a PERSONAL heaven of the soul. See Deuteronomy 28:23.
- What was the secret of Michael’s victory over Satan?
Answer: The Blood of the Lamb that was shed at the foundation of the world. The Blood contains the life of God, the power of God, the consuming fire of God! See Leviticus 17:11, 1 Peter 1:19 & Revelation 7:14.
- Why was the woman given two wings of an eagle to fly into the wilderness?
Answer: These group of saints who start looking up and trusting God will have their spiritual strength renewed like that of an eagle. This is the true fulfillment of the Scripture in Isaiah 40:28-31.
- Why the wilderness and not to heaven just like the Man Child?
Answer: The wilderness is a place where they will seek God. They should have sought God earlier, but missed that opportunity – it is like the opportunity missed by the foolish virgins. See Matthew 25:1-13 & Exodus 2:15.
- What is a time, times and half a time?
Answer: This is the same as the 1,260 days, which is 1 year plus two years plus half a year. That is, three and a half years.
- What is the water spewed by the dragon out of his mouth?
Answer: These are the FALSE doctrines or teachings that the Devil orchestrated to distract the saints from getting themselves ready. Water is the word and the mouth represents the preaching or speaking of those words. See Proverbs 14:25 & Zechariah 13:3.
- Why is the water from the mouth of a reptile like a flood?
Answer: The flood represents abundance or something overwhelming; meaning that there will be abundant or overwhelming false teachings. Jesus warned of this flood, see Luke 6:48.
- Why would the earth open her mouth to swallow the flood?
Answer: There are some secular people in the world who are not Christians, but have moral values, so they will rise up to the defence of the Church, because they will not accept the oppression being dished out to God’s people. An example of this is the recent gay marriage bills, which have been passed in 14 countries. Unfortunately, many popular Christians are now saying gay marriage is okay – See popular UK evangelical Steve Chalke (http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/belief/2013/jan/23/evangelical-gay-marriage-steve-chalke). Also see my Facebook Conversation with a Gay Preacher.
- Who are these remnants of her SEED?
Answer: The remnants of her seed are those in the Church (saints/born-again believers), but who are not in the group of the Man Child. They will go through much tribulation. See Acts 14:22 & Matthew 25:3.
- Why would the dragon make war with “the remnant of her seed” (of the Woman)?
Answer: The Devil cannot overcome the Man Child church; he knows this, because they have been “caught up to God”. They are like Elijah who cannot be overcome by the powers of Ahab, Jezebel or Baal. But the Devil would go after the other saints of God to exert his wrath. See 1 Kings 1:10 & Joel 2:3.
I am quite sure that some people’s opinions will differ from my answers, but the key thing to ask yourself is: what saith the scripture? Your opinion or mine does not count, it is God’s opinion only that counts. You must disengage yourself from all traditional belief systems to understand the truth of God’s Word. You must allow the Scripture to interpret Scripture.
