How many prisoners have you seen or heard about of late? One, two, a thousand? Whatever the case, there are always prisoners, isn’t it? Are you one of them? “You say Me?” Yes – you. If you say no, are you very sure about that? Lean back and think through this for a moment. Let me show you a man who knew and acknowledged this problem in his life – David.
Who is a prisoner? A person incarcerated in a prison, jail or similar facility; A person held in custody, captivity, or a condition of forcible restraint, especially while on trial or serving a prison sentence.
David knew he was in a prison and he pleaded for help:
“Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise Your name;” (Psalm 142:7a). He actually prayed this prayer while in a cave, running from king Saul who wanted to kill him. So, he cried out to God for help like a cornered cowering fox.
Are You in A Prison?
What problem is there in your life that has battered and beaten you so much that you think there is no way out? Is there a terrible situation you have despaired and accepted as part of you life? Friend, such things are prisons.
Things such as terrible habits, sicknesses & diseases, persecutions, thorns-in-flesh, poverty, witchcraft, sin and so on are prisons. But, finding yourself in such situations need not make you a prisoner for life!
Get Out of Prison!

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” 1 John 5:14-15
It does not end there, you have to add some importunity to the approach – remember Jacob with the angel? Remember Jabez? Remember the widow and the godless judge? Yes, there is hope for you, if you will ask.
Keith Green puts it this way, “One sleepless night of anguished prayer, I triumph over sin…” Have you ever spent an anguish night of prayer? If no, try it and see the difference. If yes, have you got the breakthrough? No? Go again, Elijah did seven times and he got something.
God has promised and He will give!
